Relationship Counselling
Healthy relationships improve all aspects of our lives and strengthen our health and wellbeing, connections with others, capacity to engage in authentic and heartfelt living, and resilience. When relationships aren’t working or they have become unhealthy, it has detrimental impacts on our health and wellbeing, and we begin to disconnect. We experience more anxiety and stress, and are more susceptible to illnesses. Strong, healthy relationships do not just happen by chance.
Transition to Parenting
Parenthood can be like a theme park thrill ride. It’s both an exciting and terrifying journey with lots of twists and turns.
Becoming a parent is one of the biggest and most important transitions in life, whether for the first time or perhaps the last time. For most it is a time of mixed emotions of hope, anticipation, and excitement, as well as anxiety, doubt, and fear. That is normal and I can help you navigate this. Parenting is not an instinctive skill. We have to learn how to be a good parent.
Pain and Health Management
Chronic pain and illness can have significant impacts on your life and relationships, such as loss of independence and not being able to do all the active things you previously enjoyed doing. Depression and anxiety are also common in people with chronic pain and illness. While it can be difficult to come to terms with acknowledging that chronic pain and illness may not be cured, you and your family can learn ways to cope and manage.
LGBTIQ
Whilst there is growing acceptance of LGBTIQ individuals and families, discrimination, judgment, disrespect, and non-acceptance still exists which has detrimental impacts to wellbeing and connections. In addition to the usual life stressors that everyone experiences, LGBTIQ individuals may be feeling challenged.
Supportive counselling in a safe, non-judgmental space can help immensely with these situations. It can be a great relief to come and talk to someone who is completely accepting of your sexual identity and lifestyle, and familiar with the issues commonly experienced in the LGBTIQ community.
